A Copper, Tartan plaid and Boxer-inspired Christmas porch
GET THE GUIDE
With a deep rooted passion for finding beauty in all things, I look forward to working with you. On here, I share my work as a interior and home-design brand photographer, but also glimpses into life at The Cottage.
Yes, you read that right! Our boxer, Max, helped inspire my copper, Tartan plaid and Boxer-inspired Christmas porch decor this year! He’s the perfect copper color and his black Tartan plaid vest compliments it well. If you’re a crazy dog lady too, raise your hand? Nope, just me. K, great!

Now that we’ve established that Max is the perfect Christmas decor inspiration. Here are the details you all really came here for! Last year, our front porch theme was a classic Merry and Bright Christmas porch with punches of festive red! This year, I chose to go a little more neutral to keep the decorations up on through the winter!

This Fall, I picked up these copper lanterns from Target and I love how they have transitioned in to our Christmas porch! The grapevine garland is a few years old, but I love bringing it back each year – PLUS, it was a beast to create. Black, dark green, and tartan plaid ribbon tied the greenery and gray together for a simple Christmas porch!

Fact: this basket normally holds Max’s leashes and harness. 🙂

Totally forgot to iron the wrinkles out of the satin ribbon. Bless.

The best Santa’s helper ever. #nothelpful

How gorgeous are these copper lanterns?!
You can shop them here:

Love all the textures in this image: satin, Fraser, and seagrass.
BONUS — CHRISTMAS BOKEH!

Begging to go back inside. #nothelpful

Thinking about putting snacks and drinks out for the delivery people! Do you do this gesture during the holidays?

Still begging to go back inside. #weaniedog

I hope you enjoyed our Copper, Tartan plaid, and Boxer-inspired Christmas porch this year! Wishing you and yours the merriest of Christmases and a Happy New Year!
Stay tuned for next week when I reveal our back porch…sneak peek on Instagram stories! @thegraycottage

Just came across this post, love the porch, the stacked stone looks great with the plaid, but most of all I love the dog. I have three of them and believe me they are not so helpful at decorating.

Hello, I love the stone on your home. Wanting to put stone on my house this spring and having a hard time finding the one I love. Done you mind telling me the style/name of the stone you have? Thank you! Tanya

Hey Tanya,
It is from a local stone yard — DutchQuality WeatherLedge Elkwood (Ledgestone). Hope that helps!
