With a deep rooted passion for finding beauty in all things, I look forward to working with you. On here, I share my work as a interior and home-design brand photographer, but also glimpses into life at The Cottage.
One of my favorite things about living near Raleigh is the beautiful history. I also love how so many designers are passionate about restoring homes to highlight their original architecture. This home was a Mid-Century-Modern home that was renovated to carefully highlight the original design. Jill Perry is a designer at a local design firm, Design Works Studio. It was a joy to capture the vibrant colors and patterns that Jill layered into this renovation. So many amazing, funky elements. I hope you enjoy this client feature.
During this photoshoot, we wanted to add scale to the images and get Jill IN the shot. This not only added “signs of life” but helped anchor the images and give a sense of presence to some of the photographs. I felt this particular image showcased the artwork beautifully but also let the designer be present with her work.
SERIOUSLY. Jaw drop. This dining room was full of stunning details and vibrant colors. It was so HAPPY. Check that chandelier too? I have also decided that every dining room needs to have a fireplace. Older homes have so many features that are often lost in modern-day homes. Totally on board with bringing that back!
The grain pattern on this table was AH-MAZING. Being the daughter (and granddaughter) of carpenters, I have a deep appreciation for the beauty of all types of wood, grain patterns, trim work, etc…. It is deeply engrained….see what I did there. Couldn’t resist. 🙂
Jill does such an amazing job to ensure the furniture fits perfectly. I love how this custom breakfast nook feels grand. However, there was a very small footprint available for this area. Just the right amount of accents to ensure it is well-collected. I wonder what they serve for brunch here?
This is hands down one of my favorite photographs I have EVER taken. I love how the shot is framed. You’re able to see the original door, chandelier, and floors all in the same photograph. And then also the cocktail room behind me. So much goodness.
This bedroom is SO FUN. I want to have a sleepover in there. The custom pillows and bamboo headboards – love it all.
We also snuck in a few quick headshots for Jill while we were in the sunroom. I love seeing designers highlighted within their projects.
I hope you enjoy this peek into one of the mid-century Raleigh homes. It was a delight to work with Jill and photograph her hard work. Stay tuned for the next client feature!! 🙂
In case you missed it, here is last week’s feature.
