With a deep rooted passion for finding beauty in all things, I look forward to working with you. On here, I share my work as a interior and home-design brand photographer, but also glimpses into life at The Cottage.
Welcome to our Merry and Bright Christmas porch! Did you notice? I’ve been trying to be more regular with blogging our about home. If anything, it helps me remember what I did when the next year rolls around. Hah.
There is one common theme, and you can see it here in our simple, fall porch from a few months ago. SIMPLE. If it isn’t simple, I’m not going to do it. I also want the inspiration that I show you to be easily replicated and not turn your home upside down.
When we built I insisted on having outlets installed under each of our windows (even in the dormer upstairs!!), and then connected to one electrical switch in our foyer. Easy on, easy off! Now, if you need to retrofit that idea, we used our Alexa and got these “smart outlets” from Amazon. We linked our two Christmas trees, mantle, piano lamps, bedroom lamps, and backporch Christmas lights all with these amazing, smart outlets. I wish was getting paid to tell you about those outlets because they have saved us so much headache and cold fingers each year!
The lanterns and bench stay on the porch year round. Red, satin ribbons and a DIY-placemat pillow tutorial made it feel Merry and Bright on this Christmas porch!
This pillow may come back next year too — we got our first snow before Christmas in years!!! It’s so pretty — I’ll share some pictures of it on Instagram!
How gorgeous is this D. Stevens Holiday red ribbon? It has dupioni silk backing and is a dream to work with! I made 7 large loops and wired them together. Super simple bow.
Thank you for stopping by our Merry and Bright Christmas Porch. Hope you feel inspired and ready to welcome your holiday guests!
Warmly,
Abbie
